Portrait of psychologist Felipe Arenas welcoming clients

My name is Felipe, and I am a Registered Psychologist with over 16 years of international experience, skilled in working with a wide range of clients, diverse presentations, and various work environments. My expertise encompasses individuals from different social backgrounds and psychological needs. I work with adults and provide individual psychotherapy, offering personalized care for the multifaceted nature of human adversity and psychological suffering. This includes anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, mood disorders, personality disorders, adjustment and life transitions, vocational counseling, career and work-related mental health challenges (including stress and burnout), migration, relationship difficulties, and gender-related concerns. I have a deep passion for men’s mental health, and I offer therapy both in English and Spanish. With a rich, eclectic working style, I integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches, mainly under the frame of a Person Centred Approach, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy ISTDP. The above means that according to the client’s psychological needs, I integrate in a personalized approach the most convenient and helpful way to alleviate client´s distress and work with his highest capacity. Under the lens of Roger’s Humanistic Person-Centred Therapy, I include and integrate elements of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, CBT, Gestalt Therapy, and Mindfulness for the benefit and the pursuit of a healthier, fulfilling and balanced life, with capacity to face and overcome adversity. My background in Human Resources and Organizational Psychology further enhances my understanding of the human challenges within work environments, career dilemmas, and organizational cultures. I am deeply committed to tailoring my therapeutic approach to each client’s unique needs, recognizing the intrinsic wisdom within every individual. I believe that psychological intervention is not just about overcoming mental health challenges but also about thriving, growing, and finding meaning and purpose in life. I have unique insight into the migrant experience—both personally and professionally—which enables me to support clients facing migratory grief, cultural shock, adjustment disorders, and significant life transitions. My approach is informed by my own background as a migrant, as well as my professional experience working with diverse migrant populations. Fluent in both English and Spanish, I am qualified at working with the Spanish-speaking community, providing culturally sensitive therapy that resonates with their specific experiences. I am an advocate for ongoing professional and personal development, actively participate in seminars, courses, and self-education related to psychology, mental health, and wellbeing. As a strong believer in therapy, I engage in therapy myself as part of my personal psychological growth and integral development.
